Some of us are going to be playing softball and kickball with the Boulder Parks and Rec department starting next week, and we could use a few more players for each sport. If you have any interest in playing either sport (or both), come out and practice your drinking with us at Upslope at 2pm this Saturday. We'll be moving over to the batting cages across the street at some point after that.
Both sports play once a week for eight weeks, and cost will be around $30-35 per person per sport depending on the number of people on each team. Games start between 6pm and 9pm and last about an hour. Both teams are co-ed with a required 50/50 guy/girl split. We play in the least competitive leagues offered, so this is very much a social thing for us - it doesn't really matter how good you are or when you played last. Drinking is allowed at the fields, so it's pretty common for us to hang around before or after games or to go out for drinks somewhere afterward.
Kickball is on Mondays at East Mapleton Ballfields beginning this coming Monday March 4 at 6pm. We could use two more guys and one more girl. You don't need any special clothes or equipment for kickball. Instead of shirts or uniforms, we're probably going to be wearing whatever ridiculous clothes we have (old Halloween costumes, etc).
Softball is on Wednesdays at Stazio Ballfields beginning this coming Wednesday March 6 at 7pm. I think we have enough guys already, but we could use another 1-2 girls. We have bats already, but you'll need a glove, and we'll probably have team shirts made (~$8) to wear during games.
So if you're interested in either or both, come have a drink with us at Upslope at 2pm on Saturday. If you want to play but can't make it out on Saturday, let me know anyway. If you have any questions, ask away.
Edit: Even if there are more people RSVPed than spots available on the teams, you should RSVP and come out anyway. Experience says not everybody who says they want to play will end up committing, and also a few of us on the RSVP list are already playing anyway and don't count towards the spots we'd like to fill. Worst case scenario, we don't have room for everybody that comes out, but you still get to drink beer at Upslope anyway.
