Description:
Orphan Train is a gripping story of friendship and second chances from Christina Baker Kline, author of Bird in Hand and The Way Life Should Be.

Penobscot Indian Molly Ayer is close to “aging out” out of the foster care system. A community service position helping an elderly woman clean out her home is the only thing keeping Molly out of juvie and worse...

As she helps Vivian sort through her possessions and memories, Molly learns that she and Vivian aren’t as different as they seem to be. A young Irish immigrant orphaned in New York City, Vivian was put on a train to the Midwest with hundreds of other children whose destinies would be determined by luck and chance.

Molly discovers that she has the power to help Vivian find answers to mysteries that have haunted her for her entire life – answers that will ultimately free them both.

Rich in detail and epic in scope, Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline is a powerful novel of upheaval and resilience, of unexpected friendship, and of the secrets we carry that keep us from finding out who we are.

I was looking forward to the meeting because I really enjoyed this book. Unfortunately I didn't arrive until 7 as I found parking impossible and then the waitresses didn't know where the group had moved to. Hope to see you next month.

I'm so sorry! We had put a sign up outside the front door of KB's after Glen left (around 7pm). This was unusual and will be solved for next month. Hopefully we'll see you then!

Thanks again for everyone being so flexible on Friday! I appreciate & so thankful to Laura for helping me find a new place and to Glen for staying behind to help direct people!

Elle, I have a thought on a new location. Churchill's on Bay Street. They have a separate room downstairs.

I just wanted to add my thank you to Elle for finding a last minute replacement venue...also I very much enjoyed this book. Having no knowledge of the orphan train program or adoption for that matter, I was mesmerized by the subject matter and found the juxtaposition of 20th & 21st century orphans's stories skillfully merged.

Great discussion about an interesting book with a group that just rolled with it when the reserved space wasn't available. Good times. I look forward to next month.

Sorry I had to change to no. Amazon seller has good ratings but won't get a good one from me as I still don't have the audiobook I ordered a few weeks ago. The library has next month's book so hopefully I can get it before next time. Have fun!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
