Distributed systems fail in complex ways -- and let's face it, if you've got more than a couple boxes or depend on someone else's APIs, you're distributed. Join Simple and Boundary for Pizza, Beer, and Tech Talks on Tuesday, July 24 at 7pm for an evening of spectacular failures at the Simple offices in downtown Portland.
We're here to tell a story of truth in development and operations.
Scott Andreas of Boundary will offer some thoughts on looking at the network as the fundamental medium of communication between apps, offering a view of your infrastructure as a "graph," along with a ton of crazy ways things can go wrong, plus analytic techniques for detecting + avoiding them. Zac Duncan from Simple picks up at the app level, exploring challenges and strategies for building mission-critical, fault-tolerant systems and accounting for failures in equipment that's under your control - and software that's not.
We'll ship in some Sizzle Pie, enjoy some good beer, and probably head elsewhere afterward. Hope you can join us, and be sure to bring a friend!
