Business ownership is for people who love learning. No matter how much you know about business there is always more to learn. No day in business is must like any other day. Businesses must be constantly evolving to keep their customers happy as the world changes around us. As entrepreneurs we live in the place of "I don't have all the answers but I' m pursuing them." Often the answers are found in the many relationships of business.
The Bowie Business Start-up and Support Group began in August of 2006. Our first meeting was in September of 2006 at DuClaw's Brewery. Three months later we started meeting in Border's Cafe. Once we attracted 23 people to a Meetup, we were too large for the cafe and became an officially sanctioned group by Borders and moved to the Reference Section. Border's has since closed and we meet in the Giant or Safeway conference rooms. Check the meetup website each month for details. We have also added a luncheon the last Friday of each month at Old Bowie Town Grille at 11:45AM.
We meet there monthly to share our celebrations and challenges, learn, and network. We are collaborative, not competitive, often having multiple accountants, financial reps, virtual assistants, etc. We support one another. In 2009, American Express Open® became our sponsor, offering helpful information to our members and covering some of the cost of running the group.
We are here to serve the entreprenurial spirit, to give courage to those contemplating business ownership, and to help each of us grow in entrepreneurship. Welcome.
