McCoy Hollow And Wet Prong

Come out and join us for a 10 to 12 mile hike in Mammoth Cave National Park.  We'll be hiking Wet Prong and McCoy Hollow trails, we will need a least 2 cars since this will not be a loop and we will need to stage one car at the start and one at the end of the hike.  If the creek can't be crossed then we will not be able to continue north to the Wet Prong Trail.

Meeting time is 9 am at the Fairview Plaza Parking Lot.  Look for a blue Jeep Liberty.  We anticipate starting the the hike at the McCoy Holloow Trailhead by 10 AM.

Hike Distance: about 10 to 12 miles

Estimated Hike Time: 5 hours

Difficulty: Moderate, there will be lots of up and down on this hike, and also Wet Prong may be muddy in spots.

Well behaved dogs are welcome - Mammoth Cave has a strict leash law.

People traveling from Bowling Green can meet up in front of the Fairview Shopping Center on the corner of Cemetry Rd. and 31W, to Carpool/ caravan up to Mammoth Cave National Park.  If you are driving alone then please meet us at the Green River Ferry Parking lot. The Houchins Ferry is closed from November to March so we will have to drive through the park to get to Wet Prong.

Be sure to wear appropriate clothes and boots with good ankle support. Bring plenty of water and a lunch.

You should do Raymer Hollow Sunday... The campsite is great, right next to a creek.

Perfect weather for hiking, and a good thing too. It was a nice long 11 mile walk. Gave me an appetite! Thanks to Ed for leading today.
