Kick-off event for Mammoth Cave Hike and Bike Trail

If you are looking for something to do on Saturday, come out and join the fun for the grand opening of the hike/bike path at Mammoth Cave.  The last section of the trail, which connects Mammoth Cave to Park City, has been finished and there will be a ribbon cutting on Saturday at 10:45 at the Mentz hotel in Park City.

Following the ribbon cutting, there will be a hike and bike ride to the visitor center and back.  The round trip is approximately 20 miles and includes portions of blacktop, but mostly gravel path. You don't have to hike the whole 20 miles, but come on out and check out the new trail.  Check the flyer (click here) for more info.

Directions to the ride start:

From I-65, take Exit 48. From Bowling Green, turn right at the end of the exit ramp. From Munfordville, turn left at the end of the exit ramp.
Turn right at the T intersection.
Turn left onto KY 255.
After crossing the bridge, take the first left.
After passing the feedmill, turn right into the pavilion parking lot.

Beautiful day to go out and meet people. We took the opportunity to walk up the trail to a little beyond Diamond Caverns.

The hotel is the new home of Barren River Imaginative Museum of Science. The pavilion is at the park next door. They have closed the road across from the hotel at the tracks, but it does allow bike and walking traffic through.

Phil, is the pavilion parking lot just behind Mentz Hotel? I am having a problem with the directions. Do you have names of the roads?

The parking lot is east of the hotel on Dixie Street. Next to the hotel (which appears to be a large house with very little parking) there is a little park and then a parking area and then a feed mill. This PDF has a nice map at the very bottom of it. http://mammothcavercd...

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
