    Hike Stats

    Meeting time: 8 AM
Hike Distance: 5.3 miles for all 4 segments
    Estimated Hike Time: 4 hours
    Difficulty: moderate

Well behaved dogs are welcome - Mammoth Cave has a strict leash law

People traveling from Bowling Green can meet up in the Fairview Shopping Center Parking lot at 8PM to Carpool/ caravan up to Mammoth Cave National Park.

At 9AM, we will meet up at the parking area for the Cedar Sink Trail on route 422 (37 09' 17.92"N, 86 09' 38.45"W). After hiking the trail we'll head north and check out the 0.5 mile Turnhole Bend Nature Trial and it's overlook of the Green River above a huge bluehole next to the River. Next we'll head east to the Sloan's Crossing Pond and do the short trail around the pond including the elevated walkways that extend over the pond. We'll end up down at the Echo River Spring Trail where we'll visit Echo River Spring and River Styx Spring.

This will be a great trip for beginners or people who haven't been hiking in a while. Only Cedar Sink has many hills, the other 3 are rated as "Easy". Be sure to wear appropriate cloths and boots with good ankle support if you have them. Many of these areas are well maintained trails buts there will also be some less manicured areas on the Cedar Sink Trail. Bring plenty of water and lunch.

If you know you will be meeting up with the group at the park, please let me know so we'll know not to wait on you at the shopping center.
