Announcing a new Meetup for Bowling Green Hiking Meetup!

What: Shanty Hollow Lake - After work hike

When: August 25,[masked]:00 PM

Shanty Hollow Lake
Shanty Hollow Rd
Warren, KY 42101

Come out and join us for an after work hike at beautiful Shanty Hollow Lake. After the hike some of us are planning on going to El Mazatlan Mexican restaurant (conveniently located in the Fairview Plaza Shopping Center). Feel free to join us to share a beer and some chips, or grab some dinner, or just hang out. smile

Hike Stats

Meeting time: 6:00 at Fairview to carpool or 6:20 PM at the shanty hollow trailhead
Hike Distance: about 2 miles
Estimated Hike Time: 1.5 hours
Difficulty: moderate because there is a bit of elevation change but this is a great hike for beginners and those looking to hone their hiking skills.

Well behaved dogs are welcome.

Let's go back to the trail at Shanty Hollow Lake for an after work hike. It takes about 20 minutes to get to there. If you want to carpool/caravan from Bowling Green, I'll be leaving from the Fairview Plaza Shopping Center on the Bypass (31-W) at 6PM.

To get to Shanty Hollow Lake, go north on 185 about 11.5 miles from Bowling Green and take a right on 1749. Once on 1749, stay straight (route 1749 turns to the left) and it becomes Lake Road. Take a left onto Shanty Hollow Road (The first left). Stay straight on this road for about 1 mile and eventually you'll run into the lake. the trailhead parking is above boat ramp parking.

The map on this site shows a back road way to get there but if you want to stay on well maintained, paved roads, follow my directions.
