Local Collaboration Brings Bozeman Premiere CHASING ICE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Bozeman, MONTANA – The Bozeman Film Festival, joined by a network of filmmakers, educators, scientists, adventurists and local organizations premieres the acclaimed documentary, Chasing Ice. Nominated for an Academy Award and winner of 17 awards – including Excellence in Cinematography at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival – Chasing Ice inspires viewers with spectacular extremes, serious adventure and incredible photography. Colin Colvert, Minneapolis Star Tribune film critic proclaims “Chasing Ice” “...a grand adventure, a visual amazement and a powerful warning” while director Robert Redford states “you’ve never seen images like this before. It deserves to be seen and felt on the big screen!”
This extraordinary film features National Geographic photographer James Balog, mastermind of the Extreme Ice Survey, and stunning high-resolution, time-lapse cinematography in some of our planets least forgiving landscapes.
Also showing: The award winning short film "TRUST Alaska", from the series “Stories of TRUST: Calling for Climate Recovery,” tells the story of how 17-year-old Nelson Kanuk is fighting to save the Alaska tundra and way of life for his community. This series features youth from across the country who bravely share their stories of harm, activism, and hope around the climate crisis. They are asking for a Climate Recovery Plan – based on science, not politics.
Special high-end audio & visual equipment will be utilized in the theater for this screening to provide viewers with an exceptional film experience, courtesy of Poindexters Audio Design.
In conjunction with the Chasing Ice film premiere, Wild Joe's Coffee Spot will display nature photographer Daniel J. Cox's striking, large-format images of polar bears in collaboration with Polar Bears International, February 21 - March 8, 2013.
