HJ 9 Resolution Supporting Coal Hearing, Senate Natural Resources

Would anyone(or more!) be interested in going to Helena this Friday to testify against House Joint Resolution 9 extolling coal development and urging the building of coal export terminals on the coast. It’s being heard in the Senate Natural Resources committee at 3pm, Room 422..

Basically the proponents talk about taxes and jobs. Kristen would be glad to give you her testimony she used when she testified in the House committee. Anne Hedges from Montana Environmental Information Center will be there and can help you. You don’t have to leave Bozeman till 12:30 and it’s over by 5:30, home by 7:15!

Give Anne a call at [masked] or Kristen Walser at[masked]-0388.

HJ 9, Joint resolution supporting coal, Rep. McNiven (R-Huntley), Senate Natural Resources, 3/15, 3pm, Rm. 422, Oppose. This bill would require the State to tell our Congressional delegation and other federal decision makers that Montana supports coal development, the building of coal export terminals, and the export of Montana’s coal to Asian markets. It ignores the serious impacts from new coal mines, increased rail traffic, and global climate change.
