Direct Action and the Fight Against Coal Exports: A Blue Skies Campaign Presenta

Direct Action and the Fight Against Coal Exports: A Blue Skies Campaign Presentation

This summer, the climate movement has grown in unprecedented ways.  In Maine, activists put their bodies on the line to block a train carrying oil from the Bakken Shale.  In Idaho, members of the Nez Perce tribe blockaded a highway to stop the transport of drilling equipment to the Alberta Tar Sands.  In Richmond, California, more than 200 protesters were arrested for trespassing at a Chevron oil refinery.

Next month, it’s Montana’s turn.  On September 15th, Montanans will converge in Helena for a direct action to reclaim our state’s lines of commerce from the biggest carbon polluter of all: the coal industry.  Together, we’ll build on the legacy of last year’s Coal Export Action, during which 23 people were peacefully arrested at the largest climate-related civil disobedience in Montana history.

Whether you’re ready to risk arrest, or want to support others who are taking this step, there are plenty of opportunities to be involved.  Come and find out more about what’s planned for the September Showdown Against Coal Exports, at an informal presentation convened by the Blue Skies Campaign.
