Brainy comedy at Flappers in Claremont

Before the show, let's meet at Loving Hut for dinner, where there's plenty of brain food and everything is cholesterol-free (to keep the blood flowing to your brain).

For more info on Loving Hut, visit their web site here:

The restaurant is at 175 North Indian Hill Blvd., Claremont, CA.

Let's meet at 7 pm, Sat., Sept. 14.

Then, at around 8:45, let's walk over to Flappers, 532 W. First St., Claremont, CA for the 9:30 comedy show, headlined by Dr. Tim Lee.

He studied California sea lions, modeled their population dynamics, got his Ph.D., and then turned to comedy - a brainy sort of comedy. The only comedy show with a PowerPoint presentation!

Tickets to the show are $20. I recommend buying them in advance, online, in order to guarantee a seat.

Here's the direct link to purchase tickets:

If you want to take a chance and buy tickets at the door, you might want to go by one of the businesses that gives out 2 for 1 discount coupons beforehand. The list is here:

UPDATE: You can get a 2 for 1 discount coupon at one of the 'Speakeasy's' prior to the event and then take it to Flappers and buy your tickets before the event to guarantee your seats. Flappers' box office is open Thurs. through Sun. in the evenings. So if you live near Claremont or plan to be in the vicinity sometime between tomorrow and Sunday, you could get your discount tickets without having to worry about the show selling out.

ALSO: this event is being advertised in several Meetup groups. Looks like there will be at least a dozen attending.

Here's what the venue says about redeeming these discount coupons:

2 for 1 coupons that are not pre-paid must be redeemed at the door. We suggest that you arrive 90 minute prior to showtime to redeem your tickets. You can call or make a reservation but, a reservation still does not guarantee seating. Only a pre-purchased ticket guarantees a seat.

To learn more about Tim Lee and see a few of his videos visit his web site here:

If you want to attend only the dinner or only the comedy act, please note this in your comment. Thanks.

Unfortunately, I have to miss this.. hope you guys have heaps of good food and laughs. On the upside, I came to know that tickets for this event are available from Goldstar.. just $6 each. Search "Comedian Tim Lee." Cheers

Diana, thanks for this wonderful post! The vids are very entertaining, and I know everyone will definitely get a boost of happy biochemicals from this event. For those who want the 2 for 1 coupon discount which makes the entry fee $10, you can team up and make your advance arrangements here.

Jenn, to find location whereabouts, simply click on the Name of the Location and the map will appear. Any words that are highlighted in bright blue are internet links.

Enjoy, everyone... what a fun night with dinner, socializing, then fun brainy entertainment! :D

Since I don't know whether this show will sell out (it is a rather small venue), I hesitate to promote the 2-for-1 deal too much. The catch with that discount ticket is that you can only use it when purchasing tickets at the door; so if the show sells out from online ticket sales beforehand, or even if it sells out when the people in front of you in line buy tickets, you'll be out of luck.

    Where is Claremont?

    • Diana

West of Upland and Rancho Cucamonga, North of Pomona, East of San Dimas. Hopefully, there won't be too much traffic for folks coming from W. L.A., the beaches, etc.
