In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxCaltech, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxCaltech event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
This seminar will take ideas worth sharing from Caltech out into the world by exploring: The Brain. TEDxCaltech will be an immersive experience — on stage and off. In keeping with the spirit of TED conferences, our diverse group of speakers are asked to give the "talk of their lifetime," sharing with the audience their exciting discoveries, talents, and dreams. The audience, which is every bit as extraordinary as the speakers, will have many opportunities to mingle and connect at extended breaks, lunch, and finally a closing reception.
Using the fast-paced and intensive format of TED talks, our speakers are pushing themselves way outside their comfort zones to share their newest, unique, and most visionary ideas. The day will be punctuated by many shorter pieces, including music, performance and comedy. There are no breakout groups; all participants will share in the same experience. Because of this, there won’t be “in-and-out” seating. Once the doors close for each session, they’ll remain closed until the next break. This well proven TED paradigm results in a confluence of amazing and thought-provoking talks, collectively aimed at creating a better future — for those involved, and for the community beyond.

Only overflow is available in the Ramo Auditorium for $50 per space:
Attendees in Ramo Auditorium will watch a live feed of TEDxCaltech. All attendees, no matter which auditorium they are sitting in, will enjoy all the breaks - breakfast, lunch, afternoon break and post-event reception - together.
This begins at 9 am with the talks running from 10 am until 6 pm, followed by a post-event reception with food, libation and a live band.
Tickets for the Ramo Auditorium overflow space are $50 each. We accept only Visa and MasterCard. Tickets must be bought individually with unique email addresses, as this feeds our name tag database and allows us to communicate event information to our attendees.
