What about your brain fascinates you most?

The way the brain can change and adapt is incredible. I find it reassuring that we can make new neural connections throughout our entire lives, and that we have a degree of control over the connections that we make.

We explore brain health, physiology, psychology, medicine, consciousness, metaphysics and physics. What areas are you most interested in?

I don't have a particular field I'm interested in, I'm intrigued by all of them and the way they inter link. Maybe that's just because I don't know enough yet to make an informed decision. Since I work in education, brain development and health is prevalent for me. All teachers want to know more about autism and ADHD, and I'm really intrigued by how injury, illness and stress affect, and are affected by, what's happening in the brain.

What do you want to learn about through our meetups?

I'd like to attain a good grasp on what our brain does and how it does it. I'd also be interested in knowing more about the history of neurology from trepanning to electric shock treatment, and then what future treatments are in store. So I'd like learning opportunities such as lectures and exhibits and other meetups of that nature, but I'm also looking forward to meeting like-minded friends through this and would enjoy social meetups where you get to kick back with people who have a common interest... because I can't stop talking about the brain and my friends' eyes glaze over after about 5 minutes.

Any other comments?

I don't have a science background so it's great to find a group where I can foster my interest in this topic without having to go back to school.

Hi, I'm an educator. I learned some basic neuroscience to teach more effectively, and now I'm hooked. I want to learn more and more.
