There are many things about the brain that still remain a mystery to science. We actually have three brains in one: the brain stem, or reptilian brain, which contols autonomic functions; the limbic system, or mamalian brain, which deals with emotions and memories, and the neocortex, our newest brain, used for reasoning and analyzing. Then there are the left and right hemispheres, which control different sets of functions and opposite sides of the body. It's amazing how science has intersected biology and robotics (biorobotics). For example, a paralyzed person hooked up to a neuroprosthetic system with an eye-reading device, is able to move objects on a screen using eye movements. There is certainly, so much we don't yet understand, or at least have a major consensus on, such as why we dream, near death experiences, telepathy, savant syndrome, and the origins and mechanisms of a variety of pathological conditions. It's a very exciting frontier; and it's us!
All of them interest me. I'm especially interested in physics and medicine.
