From the Imagination Workshop?s website (needs some updating):

?In a recent study, Dr. Lynn Fairbanks demonstrated that patients who participated in the Imagination Workshop treatment had an average improvement of 38% in their social, occupational and psychological functioning, while patients in the traditional role play groups had a 22% improvement. Dr. Fairbanks concluded that Imagination Workshop is ?a valuable program with demonstrated therapeutic benefits for patients with serious psychiatric disorders.

Imagination Workshop has drawn together hundreds of renowned actors, writers and directors from Broadway, film and television -- including such well-known talents as Robert Altman, Susan Sarandon, Ted Danson and Sam Waterston -- to create transformative theater-based experiences with more than forty-five thousand Imagination Workshop participants. Currently, Imagination Workshop programs benefit patients at the Semel Institute, veterans at New Directions (a non-profit residential self-help program for homeless veterans on the Veterans Administration campus in West Los Angeles) and ?at-risk? children at the Accelerated School and Olympic High School in Los Angeles. These groups represent a broad spectrum of income levels and ethnicities.?
