Brandywine Valley Writers Group Meetup.

These days, publishers expect an author to cultivate an audience and promote their books on their own. Social media is crucial, but how can you best use Twitter, Facebook, or a blog to build a name for yourself and an audience for your work? Don Lafferty is a regular contributor to the global conversation about marketing through social media -- and he's got answers to these and many more questions.

Although meetings officially start at 7:00 pm, many of us show up early to have a meal and catch up with each other. You can also order food and drink (on your own tab) throughout the meeting. The program generally lasts approximately 75 minutes. However, people stay as long as they like after the official program and we sometimes close the place.

Officers of the group are currently:

    • Mark Mitchell - President
    • James Breslin - Vice President
    • Jurgen Flood - Treasurer
    • Wayne A. "Tony" Conaway - Promotion
    • Ginny Beards - Secretary
    • Dick Lolla - Web Site Administrator

Please check the event schedule for information on the programs and for additional meeting content and locations. You can find additional information on our Facebook page and on our web site:

Don Lafferty was great, filling every second of his presentation with valuable information and pragmatic suggestions toward maximizing the benefits of social media without breaking the bank or burning all of our time (which should be spent writing, not Tweeting, whenever possible.) Beyond this excellent presentation, the group itself is just great... a fun group of down-to-earth people who like to read and write.

I know social media is important, but I would have rather had some content on using audio books and e-books.
