Movie night: Jards

This is a last minute event.

The celebrated composer and musician Jards Macalé is in the recording studio where director Eryk Rocha captures him in a wide variety of poses and states of creating, imaginatively varying style and shooting formats. Fashioning an intimately attuned portrait of an artist, Rocha uses his camera as an instrument to riff with Jards in a poetic exchange between images and music. The repetitive, time-stopping process of rehearsal and the flow of energy between the two art forms create an elegiac vision of the creativity of some of Brazil’s most beloved singers and musicians.

In Portuguese; English subtitles. 2012. Brazil. Directed by Eryk Rocha.

I enjoyed the movie and Jards is an amazing musician. Pros- Great Music

Cons- I felt the in between scenes were long and could've portrayed the same message with less time.

Thanks again for the invite, I also agreed it would've been nice to meet everyone and discuss the movie.

Btw....I think Jards was their lol a gentleman that was sitting right next to me and left as the movie began looked just like him.

Hey Harry! So glad to hear some of the same opinions about both the movie and the organization of the event. Maybe next time we get to actually talk in person.

And by the way, Jards was there! He and the director did a little intro about the movie before it began. It was near to listen to them.

Hi, Harry! It was nice to see you at the movie. Jards watched the beginning of the movie, he was in the penultimate row. Where you in that row?

Hi, everybody. Sorry, but I arrived late and could not meet you. Next time we have an event like that we will set up a place for everybody to meetup before the movie starts. I learned about the movie last minute and hurried up to spread the word so people would know about it.

It was a very interesting film with a fascinating subject matter. It is amazing to, like the director said, travel through one's creative process. I just wish that the organizer would have put a bit more effort in making sure the group met before the film began. It would have been lovely to hear what others thought of the movie, but I guess that's a bit too much to ask.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
