Brazilian/American bossa nova composer, singer and guitarists Kay Lyra has captured audiences with her precise, pure voice and impeccable phrasing. Music critic Nelson Motta labeled her, “The daughter of bossa with a crystal voice,” in an inevitable reference to her musician/composer father, bossa nova veteran/founder Carlos Lyra.
In Brazil, Lyra recorded her first solo album Influência do Jazz, which was subsequently released in Japan. Lyra then produced her indie album, Kandagawa. Kay also participated in the film/documentary "Coisa Mais Linda" from Paulo Thiago, about the history of Bossa Nova, filmed in Rio de Janeiro, featuring all the great names of that movement such as João Donato, Johnny Alf, Leny Andrade, Roberto Menescal, Alaíde Costa, Carlos Lyra, Billy Blanco, Sergio Ricardo and so on.
