(1992) A guilty pleasure for some, but none the less a fab funny feel good film to kick start our 'Justice' season at the Loft. Two young New York students get accused of murder in rural Alabama while on their way back to college.Broke and facing the death penalty, they are forced to rely on a relative to defend them. Unfortunately this 'lawyer in the family' is brash, loud mouthed and totally inexperienced - only expert in getting on the wrong side of the judge and risking incarceration himself. His one saving grace is his superior brained and long suffering girlfriend/fiancé (Tomei)..but can she save him from sealing his and his couisin's fates and keep them all out of jail? Jonathon Lynn's comedy of errors is a joyous romp with a high Feel Good factor. Joe Pesci has a ball sending up his wise guy persona, and Tomei won an oscar as Mona. Herman Munster himself (beloved veteran character actor Fred Gwynne) does a beautiful star turn as the lugubrious and long suffering court judge. A total treat - come see for yourself! If you still haven't made it to the Loft yet, you really should - real cinema seats from the Duke of Yorks, a candle lit bar, yummy tapas food, great atmosphere and a warm welcome!
