'Upstream Colour' @ Komedia

Duration:96 mins
Director: Shane Carruth
Synopsis
Director Carruth follows on the promise of his 2004 debut PRIMER with this jaw-dropping slice of high-concept sci-fi.
After a woman is drugged and robbed by a petty thief, she finds herself drawn to a mysterious man who seems to share her life memories. The film follows the intertwined fates of this couple as they fall in love and struggle to comprehend the machinations of a god-like figure in the wings, whose motivations may be benign or malevolent.
Part meditation on love and memory, part engrossing mind-bender in the tradition of the very best of science fiction, UPSTREAM COLOR is one of the most original and distinctive films of the year.

IMDB says it is something to do with people caught up in the life cycle of a timeless organism. I'll read more and get back to you, I need a cup of tea!

Berberian Sound Studio meets Inland Empire on acid. This film was visually arresting and the "sound design" won the Special Jury Prize at the Sundance festival. It held my interest for most of its 96 minutes but don't ask me what it was about!
Good crowd again and great curry, we need to do this more often.

Strange film or edited arty video footage would be a more apt description. Thank God it wasn't longer and that's never a good criticism.

Sorry Stella - can't make it after all. I'm fading fast with a cold I picked up in the plane coming back from holiday. Shame - sounds terrific.

Hi count me in for a curry. Will try and leave my cynical side at home - think it would have helped last night since accessing my inner teen definitely didn't work! Liz

Sounds fascinating Stella, well spotted. If there are any close-ups of people gazing wistfully at the camera just after they've eviscerated someone in front of a load of geisha girls however, you'll owe me a stiff drink!
