What we’re about
We have a team of hosts who put on a variety of events at various cinemas and venues in Brighton and Sussex. Whether it's a cult classic, an art-house gem or a riveting documentary you're desperate to see but none of your friends are interested or you're too shy to go by yourself, come and join our informal group of socialising movie fans for a great night out at the movies!
To cover the costs of keeping the group alive on Meetup there is a one-off, lifetime subscription fee of £5, which is payable once your membership has been approved by our organizing team. To keep on top of site admin, your application will automatically be declined if you don't update your photo if requested or we don't receive your subscription fee within one month of receipt of application.
This is how it works
Press the 'request to join' button and you will be asked to:
• Upload a recent image, which needs to be recognisable (no sunglasses, ‘remote dot in the distance’ photos, back-view only, shots with more than one person in them, or pictures of assorted wildlife or inanimate objects) basically, so we can spot you at an event. Meetup will automatically use your default profile image so if this is not recognisable (i.e. favourite pet, shot with sunglasses etc) you will need to either upload a new one for this group or choose an appropriate existing image you already have saved in your general meetup profile.
• Post a real name, or a name you like to be called in person
• Fill in 3 profile questions
Once your application has been received and approved, we will send you a message asking you to pay the £5 lifetime membership subscription with a link to pay your subscription fee online via PayPal.
Once we’ve received your payment you will be free to join any of our events.* All we ask you to do is attend at least one event in each 12 month period of your joining date and make sure you change your RSVP if you can't make an event (3 no-shows result in cancellation of membership).

*You are responsible for buying your own tickets for cinema events. Events arranged at non-cinema venues such as monthly club socials will have a nominal fee charged on the door.
