I was quite surprised by the transformation in this local Hove boozer when I visited a couple of weeks ago. Gone is the tired old interior and in its place is a very airy, spacious and modern pub. It is now managed by the Ember Group, which also manages The Sussex Cricketer in Eaton Road, which we have been to. There is plenty of space for us to make merry - it will suit our group nicely!
The menu is very extensive. They have something for everyone, including light bites and fixed-price menus. For more information about the pub and to see their menus, go to: www.emberinns.co.uk
The pub comes recommended and the food, though I've only been in for lunch, was very nice.
The Sussex in Hove is in St. Catherines Terrace, south of Church Road. The best bus stop is at the bottom of George Street (1, 6, 49). You then walk down Osborne Villas and the pub is at the bottom.
I'm sure The Sussex will provide a good evening. Thanks to Jackie and Colin for recommending it. See you there!
