VR Brighton: May Edition

Hi Everyone!

After our great first meetup, it’s time to get together again for all things VR related. Whether you just want to play on some of the latest demos, try VR for the first time, show off your own demos, or just have a beer and chat to VR developers and enthusiasts, then this is the night for you.

To everyone who bought demos along last time, please bring them along and show off again!

Once again @vbrighton has kindly offered to host us and our eclectic collection of new tech and demos on Wednesday May 14th at 7pm. If you’ve got a demo you’d like to set up, give me a shout and come along a little earlier.

If anyone has a specific demo they’d like to try out, either install it on your laptop and bring it along (we can hook it up to a Rift), let me know in advance and I’ll try to get it installed on one of the machines, or alternatively we can just install it on the night.

If you have a demo you’ve created, please do bring it along! We had some really exciting demos from various people last time, and I still didn’t get to have a go on Timmy’s amazing Oculus / PS Move / Kinect game.. maybe this time..

We’ll have Oculus’s, Razer Hydras, Kinects, Leaps, and maybe a Myo with some working demos.. No DK2 this time, maybe in a month or two if we’re lucky!

We will once again be providing a beer on the house when you arrive - feel free to bring your own drinks to enjoy after that!

A final note: VR Brighton will take place on the 2nd Wednesday of every month.

See you there!

    Hi guys

have just released a small app "Orbulus".

Its been built out of some component pieces that make up a larger more extensive project.

Hands free it allows you to explore some of the best Photo spheres on the net.

    http://www.vrcraftworks.com/orbulus/

Please feel free to download and try out and let me know what you think.

    Cheers

    Pete

Is there a meetup this week? If there is I would love to demo Private Eye again. I am however short of an Oculus that I'm allowed to show - if someone kind folk could lend me one for the show that would be grand!

Hey, it was really nice to meet everyone. A great meet up! *Shameless plug*
As some of you know, I am looking to develop a therapeutic VR solution for people suffering from brain disorders like dementia and autism. There has actually been a lot of positive research and similar solutions that you can read up on at the links at the bottom. The problem with the solutions currently on the market is that they are somewhat limited in the types of experiences they provide. I am therefore looking for a company or individuals to partner with to help develop the solutions, so if anybody is interested or wants to know more just give me a shout!

Hey guys, after doing some more research online the best bet would be to order an altergaze and do a trial run at our care home to get some feedback. It would also be good to get endorsements from healthcare professionals, so if you do know anyone then please ask if they're interested in testing it out. Also, I need demos so if anybody wants to create something that might be of interest and donate it to the project I would be indebted to you forever ;)

    Really enjoyed it. Thanks.
    Great racing game.
One thing with VR is it is kind of dangerous to physically move around (maybe some sort of guard system required for games that require it). Although the tech is immersive, there is little reason to move/look around in many game genres anyway(at the moment). A world war II flight sim might really show off the tech, being in a spitfire and having "bandits at 12 o'clock" would be cool.

Anyway look forward to the next one, and hope to get a go on the hd oculus next time..

Thanks for hosting a great event, was awesome to show off Private Eye and have such a positive, warm reception. Demo should be coming to Share in two weeks. We won't be at the next but will def be at the next, next.

    Damn fine.

Great people, cold beer with easily as much going on as any of the London meets. The demos were some of the best I have seen. Seriously top draw stuff ladies and gentlemen.

On the hardware side the HD Rift and Altergaze shows where this is all heading. Simply amazing.

Really enjoyed that sense that something special is happening. Thank you iestyn and the guys at vbrighton coworking studio.

See you next time if not before. Pete

This is just round the corner, and I think it's cheaper than the NCPs http://www.brighton-h...

Alternatively, we're about 5 mins from the train station!
