Migrant English Project 10th birthday gig at Cowley Club

We've been asked to provide some music for this afternoon party. It's on from 1-4pm and we can play as much as we like. It's prob. more a sit around table than proper stage though we can get in earlier and sort the PA out. The idea is to do our usual set list and then individuals/pairs etc might do some extra stuff, as much as we want really.

Note: NO P.A. (as their license doesn't allow loud music before 6pm). So we need to bring our own gear. The idea is to create ambiance rather than be the main event but we will need some amplification/microphones etc if people can bring what they have as it may be quite noisy in there. Set list etc to follow...

    Hi Linden etcetera,
With Stef and Dave not able to come and John H already not coming I don't see the point of rehearsing with that many key members not attending. We'll all do our best on the day. I would have phoned but don't have your number. Apologies and best wishes, Larry

Ah, blimey, that makes me feel bad. I also have to drop out. Have a son to help out with his CV! Likewise, I know the set and if the opportunity is still there to do a few solo songs, have them rehearsed already. Profuse apologies to all. Dave

Sorry chaps, but I don't think I'm going to be able to make this (Sunday) afternoon. Got stuff I need to deal with coming in waves this month. All's well more or less (well not in Syria or the Philippines obviously) but been up all night and morning and now need to crash for a while, also, as I don't have any transport this avo, the confluence of factors wins out.. I'm OK with the practised set and up for other get-togethers as desirable or necessary so no worries I'm aware of on the gig front.. Hi to all, and if anybody finds a lost chord, it's likely one I mislaid a while back..

Sunday or perhaps Monday would be better than Saturday for a rehearsal time for me... Be well fellow musical gypsies...

REHEARSAL? JohnH is just gonna join us on day fro standard set, songs played exactly as recorded. Be good to have a rehearsal for everyone else that can make it - what days can people make, in the week from saturday 9th thru fr 15th, maybe sat or sunday afternnoon? Or in week, tues or thurs eve? MEANWHILE, small groups/individiuals who want to do a few extra songs, please make your own rehearsal plans separate from here.
    Cheers,
Linden (from the Big Lebowski bar, Rejkjavik!)

Can make any day for a rehearsal, to be honest and if it's ok can do 2/3 solo songs so don't need to rehearse them. Keep me updated and I'll come along (from my kitchen in Hove :-))

Personally I'm away until Nov 7th but hope to organise a rehearsal after that. Feel free anyone else to get together and sort some songs for this meanwhile. Cheers, Linden

Sorry all! Been a bit distracted so haven't gotten to the video upload and edit bit from Alan's hail and farewell at Brighton Electric quite yet.. What can I say? I'll get to it in the next day or so and comment as appropriate. No reason to think it hasn't worked out fine though so doubtless more goodies to come.. Re Larry's request, I'll happily accompany/harmonize with just about anything using just about anything.. We should get a dedicated session together ASAP with whomsoever else is game..

I've also got an original (family friendly) song none of you have heard yet (in C#, 'storytelling' verse/chorus structure, two thematic instrumental sections and a 'playout', and lots of room for both 'driving' rhythmic support, and melodic harp/keyboard/sax/guitar etc solos). I can either perform on my own or get together with an instrumentalist or two, should the spirit so move..

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
