Acoustic jam session. Bring your acoustic instrument to play some music!

  • May 14, 2014 · 7:45 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Bring your acoustic instrument (guitar, harmonica, ukele, bongos, violin etc.) and the chords/lyrics of any music you want to play. If you are playing guitar, it would be useful if you could bring along a "capo" so we can be more versatile with changing key for the vocals...

Bring along any drinks or snacks you want for the evening.

My flat is in the building north of the Lidl store and near the roundabout. The entrance to the block is immediately behind the bus shelter. Any problems give me a ring [masked]).

There is a £1 cost per person for each of these session, payable on the evening. This is to cover the fee charged to me by "Meet up" to run these events (approx. £50 every 6 months).

NOTE: If you RSVP "yes" then realise you cannot attend, please remember to change your RSVP to "no" so it frees up your place for someone else. Thanks.

Absolutely brilliant, really friendly and enjoyable and not at all intimidating which I often find playing Infront of/with other people

I haven't heard of any of these but just looked at the vids and googled the chords and they sound great and look like simple easy chords to play along with if someone has the chords/lyric sheets sounds great, look forward to meeting you all tomorrow

Good idea on the blues suggestions John. Could you bring along copies of chords...?

I would like to revisit the following:
    Stormy Monday
    Midnight Rider
as people seemed to like them but I felt we never got in to these wonderful blues songs. Plus I just want to hear JH & LPN playing some storming harp sections. Some great opportunities for shared vocals and guitar solos also...........OK - I rest my case.

If you want to give the 'I See Fire' a go there's a good shot of him playing it at:

A couple of song suggestions for this Wednesday...

Ed Sheeran "I see fire" (from the Hobbit film). A nice folky song although it might be a bit of a challenge to get the sound right... Steve - it would be great if you could get the finger pick riff.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fngvQS_PmQ The Felice brothers "Whiskey in my Whiskey" - a great song with easy chords/structure (shame about the rather violent lyrics...).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pRdYbyw1Jk Also, is anyone able to host the session on 28th May (or I will have to cancel it...).
