Sacramento Brights Action Meetup Group Message Board › our positive action for science education

our positive action for science education

Group Organizer
Sacramento, CA
Post #: 3
We are far more David than Goliath in size. Still, even a tiny group can make a real contribution if it goes beyond just talk and camaraderie. But, it wouldn't hurt to have more attendance.

At the June Meetup, we duplicated, pasted on labels and stamps, licked envelopes, etc. and accomplished sending out notices to science coordinators in 61 area high schools(!), telling them of Earth and Life: changes across time (the unique wall poster - over 5-feet wide! - that Brights Central is providing as a classroom resource FREE to H.S. teachers who teach about evolution. Pretty good "local action" for such a small attendance!

Cheerleading is fine, but if members really do like actions like they said (by joining this group), then why don't more attend to participate in the action part? Please answer that question, offer ideas for improvement (different organizer? new location?, etc. etc.), or just come to the announced Meetups and help us plan another activity.

We are trying to add on another element to a standard Meetup by planning and engaging in positive actions that impact the broader community. Your participation would make a real difference.
