Let Your Song Speak For Itself

  • Mar 3, 2013 · 3:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

This will be a first live web-conferencing meetup.

Brisbane Songwriters will meet Sydney and Melbourne Songwriters for a workshop online.

A Facebook page have also been set up for developing songwriters where they can receive updates and connect with developing songwriters from other parts of Australia, the Australian Songwriters Workshop. Please join our page by liking it.

Agendas may vary from time to time for our live web-conferencing. However members will benefit of the same.

The live web-conferencing address is:,magesongs,private

Please bookmark the website. The password is currently 'bsharp' . This is the Magesongs School Of Songwriting classroom which we will use to run our workshops. It has a whiteboard to write & draw, a powerpoint presentation facility, internet browser within the room, video, chat, desktop sharing and much more. So there are so many things we can do at our live web-conferencing meetup.

The online (even we hate to call it this way, we rather web-conferencing) meetups will help us connect our meetups together since meetups are basically set up in a one specific location only. But here we are joining 3 Australian cities.

Bring something to share, if not a song, a lyric or melody.

I will be presenting a topic on some of the tricks that can make your songs marketable in simple plain english. This will be an audio-visual presentation, so it will help if you have a webcam, but if not a microphone will be good enough.

Any suggestion for our web-conferencing meetup? Please send me an email.

Jacques. After so much jamming in the past few months, I need a day to catch up with my friends. Sorry.

No worries David. This was supposed to be for Melbourne and Sydney only but as there weren't many RSVPs, I invited Brisbane also. But we'll have one for Brisbane in about a month time anyway.

We took a look at lyrics using emotive language versus lyrics that are philosophical and do not move the listeners. We also looked at how a lyric can stand out with each line being important to the song. We also looked at one attendee's song progress and picked the little things that seem insignificant but that songwriters must be aware they should avoid. Lyrics must speak for themselves. No explanation attached.
