Hello everyone - I can't believe that it's already time to organise our Christmas Dining Event. This year has gone by so quickly.
We first visited LIBERTINE BAR AND RESTAURANT in April this year. Back then we totalled 192 diners and now we are 275. Welcome to our new diners and hopefully some of you will be able to join in with this meetup.
Further to several requests we are returning once more to LIBERTINE BAR AND RESTAURANT (www.libertine.net.au) where we will enjoy a fusion of French and Vietnamese Cuisines. This restaurant comes highly recommended. Libertine Brisbane is located in the historic Paddington Barracks building on Petrie terrace. The heritage listed dining room is jaw-dropping, with glistening chandeliers hanging from three metre ceilings and decadent wallpapers and gold leaf finishes blending with locally designed recycled timber furniture.
Where do we meet?
7:15 pm at Libertine Bar and Restaurant - I propose we meet at an outside table for pre-dinner drinks.
How do we get to Libertine Bar and Restaurant?
Car (parking is available at Coles, Paddington Barracks - free for first 2 hours and then $6.00 per hour thereafter); train to Roma Street Station and 7 minute walk; various buses to Roma Street.
How much do I pay?
The amount of $80.00 per person which is made up as follows: Food $75.00 (discounted price especially for us), Tip $2.00, and Organiser's Fee $3.00.
The restaurant is licensed - they cannot offer a cash bar so it will be a "pay as we go" into the "trusty tin".
The Christmas Banquet a la Libertines:
"Streetfood": Seared Japanese Scallops w/confit tomato, curry butter & pickled green mango; Free Range Chicken Spring Rolls w/chilli & lime dipping sauce; Rare Roast Beef Rump Noodle Salad w/chilli & lime dipping sauce; Lemon-cooked Sashimi-Grade Tasmanian Salmon w/chilli & fresh baguette.
"Shared plates" (1 large plate per 4 diners): Oven-baked Whole Fresh Fish of the Day; Roast Berkshire Pork Belly w/sticky chilli caramel; Confit Duck Maryland w/ mandarin, green papaya & spiced orange sauce; Yellow Roast Pumpkin Curry w/spinach & herb salad.
"Sides": Wok-Tossed Seasonal Greens in ginger sauce w/toasted cashews; Vietnamese Garden Salad w/chilli & garlic vinaigrette; Steamed Fragrant Jasmine Rice.
"To Finish": Plateau de Quatre Fromages
I am assured that there will be more than enough food (!)
How does it work?
This is a pre-paid event. Once you RSVP yes I will send out an email with the banking details so that your payment can be credited in good time. Your payment must be received by 4:00 pm on Tuesday 20 November 2012.
Can I get a refund?
As I need to confirm the final numbers with the restaurant by close of business on the Wednesday prior, your payment is non-refundable after 20 November 2012 unless someone can take your place.
I realise that this restaurant is rather on the expensive side but the quality of the food and service is excellent beyond excellent. I am positive that no one will be disappointed. Please note however that this is a very popular venue and as such it can be a little bit noisy. This restaurant is wheelchair friendly.
