BFG Meetup

Tony Morris is going to be giving an introductory lesson to Functional Programming using Haskell. This lesson is designed to be totally hands-on. So, bring your laptops (fully-charged of course), make sure you have GHC installed, and bring your brain.

If you're past the introductory stages, Tony has some other bits and pieces to keep you interested, so don't feel that there's no value for you.

I thought this was a good way to intro Haskell. I did it in a semester of uni 9 years ago and I think in the short time in this meetup we covered some things my uni class didn't

Tony gave a great talk, and is good looking too, which is not so common in a presenter at these events. Must be all the squash.

(we're testing the review process, Tony does have good legs, but who's looking)

Given the nature of these kinds of meetups, it's pretty important to get there early and make sure you're booted up, comfy and ready to rock. Given that Charlie has to do a lot of running around if we're arriving late it's even more helpful if you do.

So please troops, make a big effort to get there by 5:30 so that we can settle in with enough time prior to 6.

    Thanks!

PS. If you're not able to get hold of Charlie, you can get me on 0431 952 586

I am really really hoping for a prompt start at 1800 (please be on time guys with your machine ready!) and finish at 1930. I expect there will be some informalities and questions afterward too. Then there is the pub.

Just a heads up for those who are new to the group. Mincom's doors close at 6. If you arrive late, and no one is downstairs to let you in, then just SMS me on [masked].

Good to see that we've got quite a turnout for this meetup. It looks like we've got quite a few new people who are keen to get started with FP.

    Don't forget to bring a fully-charged laptop!

    Hi Clint,

I certainly don't know of any, but the best way to find out is to search Meetup.com. There are a few GC people in the group, but I'm not sure if any of them are into i(Pad|Phone) dev.

The Mogeneration guys do this kind of work (guys like Nick P and Tom A) so they might have more insights as to what is around.

    Cheers.
