The BFPG are coming together with GOTO Chicago in a first-time functional programming breakfast meetup courtesy of Dave Thomas!
Dave Thomas of Bederra Labs, organiser of the YOW! Conference and long-time partner of the BFPG has organised a GOTO meetup in Chicago with some stellar presentations from none other than Erik Meijer and Rich Hickey.
The BFPG has been invited to attend via a web conference so that we too can enjoy these talks from these functional programming figureheads.
Full detail of the speakers and their talks are available here: http://gotonightchicago.eventbrite.com/
This will be the first meeting in what we hope to be many that will bring together development communities from across the globe. We hope you can find the time to come and be part of it.
Thank you to Microsoft Brisbane for providing us with the venue and their ongoing support to our local technical communities.
Brilliant opportunity to see these speakers, big thanks to the whole team that made it possible

Some good food for thought. Thanks everyone involved in organising this.

Always a pleasure to listen to Erik, and indeed a pleasure to hear Rich Hickey for the first time. He has a very cool perspective regarding stateful data. My brain feels suitably expanded for the day :)

Hi all! Thanks to the generosity of a few individual members of the group, we're going to put on some light refreshments. If you have any particular dietary requirements, please ping me privately at [masked], ASAP, as we'll need to finalise the order very soon.

This sounds very fun. I expect not to understand everything, but I'll record it all and review it later.
