Just realised we never actually added a description to this event. Lol whoops.

I'll be grabbing lunch at Cafe Boulevard then rocking up to Goodgames at about 1 if anyone else will be there early. I recently acquired Game of Thrones 2ed so I might bring that in for a spin.

So, Kate and I will be bringing, DungeonQuest and maybe some Magic. Does anyone in the group play NetRunner? If so, I could bring my decks.

Hey, I saw your group and thought you guys look like fun, I've never done any kind of card game or tabletop games before except for once with a friend, is it cool if I tag along to check it out?

Is Magic anything like WoW TCG?

    September 6, 2013

    • Kate R.

I'm told that yes, it is, by my brother, who plays magic and has definitely heard of WoW TCG. It has a different resource system though? Hope that helps. Also, "It is the mother of all TCGs", he says.

      September 8, 2013

    • Ben V

Like Kate said, yest, it is quite similar. The resource system is different. When building a deck instead of building around a Hero/Class/Faction, you build according to which of the 5 colors available you choose. A couple of years back when I played TCGs I quit MAgic for WoW and the transition was extremely easy as many of the mechanincs are so similar, just different terminology.

In short, yeah, it is somewhat similar.

I can bring Kemet, Galaxy Trucker, Terra Mystica and Cyclades if people are interested...

Any game suggestions for this event? some people wanted to play Battlestar Galactica last time but missed out. So, let me know if you guys want me to bring it. Last time some people started playing magic, that is awesome and scary (to your wallets) too. so, If anyone is interested in some Magic, that would be good as well.

We were also told that they have Relic and Small World boxes in the store which we can borrow to play. Note that Relic is long, and, does anyone know how to play it?

      I'll bring:
      The Resistance: Avalon - http://boardgamegeek....
      It plays 5-10 players
When I brought it previously it was a hit I would say. Each game takes about 20-30 minutes, depending on how much accusation and back and forth between players fun goes on it could go longer.

      Glory to Rome - http://boardgamegeek....
      This one plays 2-5 players.
I purchased this off EBay last week from someone in the States. Since I have not received it yet I don't know how it plays and apparently it takes a bit to fully understand. Plays in about an hour.

I'd love a game of BSG. I will be taking Quarriors, The LEgend of Drizzt Board Game and RoboRally. Quarriors is a 30 - 60min Dice-building game

Thunderstone may take quite some time, last time I played it with new people it took over an hour, but usually should take no more than 1.

Roborally can take a while depending on the number of players (It is optimal to have at least 4-5 players)

The Legend of Drizzt last no less than an hour and it all depends on how many adventures are played.

I am personally looking forward for a couple of games of Quarriors and RoboRally.

As an alternative to MTG, we could play the "Mage Wars" that I own. Unlike MTG you play with the cards in the box. There are 4 types of mages, and the expansion adds 2 more types. It plays on a board, and I have proxy miniatures for most of the summons (they are other types of magic as well).

It was meant primarily as a 2 player game, but you can play 2 teams of 2 of a standard board, but for a 4 player "deathmatch" they recommend 2 boards (which I don't have, but maybe I could mark squares out on a battlemat with an OHT pen?
Anyway, I suggest a 2 vs 2 game. Play time is around 90 mins for a 2 player game, so perhaps 2 hours for a 2 vs 2?

I can also bring in Arkham Horror again, or Merchants and Marauders, Mage Knight, Florenza, Rune Wars, Last Nnight on Earth, Castles of Burgundy. The 1st 5 usually take 2+ hours to finish, and the last 2 about 90 minutes

I am interested in playing Relic. A reviewer said it was similar to Talisman, but in the 40K universe.
