Live SEO Audit / Site Clinic

Get Your website Audited for Free - At this meetup we will run another another of our very popular "site clinics"  - where (if you are game) we will undertake a group wide review of your own (or a clients) website to see what can be done to help improve your rankings/traffic/sales/enquiries.

We will choose 2 or 3 websites to undertake a LIVE SEO Audit on and spend 15-20 minutes on each site, highlighting what is done well, and what could be improved to increase rankings/traffic and conversions.

This is a great opportunity to have your site audited for free by some of Brisbane's best Search Engine Optimisers.  The site and audit process will be displayed on the big screen and we will also get feedback from the crowd.

You will be given an opportunity to submit a site for consideration when you RSVP, and there may also be an opportunity for final submissions on the night itself, so if you'd like a site audited, or are interested in how an SEO audit is done, make sure that you come along.

The Brsbane SEO Meetup is held on the First Thursday of each month from 5:30PM until 7:30ish.

It's a great opportunity for Professional Search Engine Optimisers to share their experience with web designers/developer and website owners who are trying to learn a bit more about SEO.

A typical timeline (not set in concrete) :

5:30pm -Arrive, have a drink & a chat, order meal
6:30pm - Discussions/Site Clinic start
7:30pm - Official finish

You are of course welcome to stay on and chat/network afterwards if you wish....

Note: If you RSVP and Pay early you will get it at the reduced rate ($6).  RSVPs on the day and payments at the door will cost $10.

Just experienced the importance of original content and thought I would share. We maintain an online automotive store with a large volume of products for sale. It takes time to produce our own product descriptions, so for the products we haven't worked on, we rely on the manufacturer descriptions.

In the space of a week, after re-writing the product description the page is now ranking 4-5th position in Google for important keywords that previously were not performing. No other SEO was done.

Extra Tip: If you want to check for duplicate content on your page or want to see if anyone is using your content, you can use www.copyscape.com (Credit to Stephen for showing me this tip)

Would like to see just one site audited more in depth rather than quickly reviewing three sites.

Whilst the more technical aspects may lose some of the beginners, the group really is about SEO and the expectation is that those attending do know the basics of SEO. As such a more indepth analysis showing the use of tools rather than cursory glances at a few more obvious aspects would be far better serving the needs of the main attendees.

Just to clarify, potential clients would be interested in basics. SEO consultants would know the basics and want to develop their skills further. Looking together at sites, basic stuff is likely to surface occasionally when it's been missed for some reason, but I'm hoping that we developer a good checklist as a group, which we then use for site audits and for our respective clients.

Another thing we could be doing is comparing how different tools analyse a given site and discuss the merits of using each tool. We'll always have personal preferences, but as Andy pointed out last night, tools make mistakes too and our tool kit should be complete enough to cater for them.

Enjoyed the session Andy: always pick up a couple of ideas from these audits. Should site audits be the basis of discussions at the segmented meeting? This would allow for technical analysis in the advanced group; and user analysis in the beginner group. Just a thought.
