I'm Charlie and I have created the Brisbane Web Accessibility & Inclusive Design meetup. The aim of this Meetup is to allow open discussions on web accessibility issues and to network with like-minded professionals, advocates and supporters alike.
Working in consultancy positions in digital agencies for the past 5 years. I am the director at Webbism, specialising in web accessibility, user testing, conformance reviews and training. Web accessibility is not just a professional pursuit but a personal passion.
My first job after graduating high school was working as a volunteer in a community that caters for people with disabilities, I have been a member and supporter of Vision Australia since 2002. I am a strong advocate for greater web inclusivity. I am currently studying Internet Communications through Curtin University and recently completed the Professional Certificate in Web Accessibility Conformance through the University of South Australia.
Introduce new members to the world of inclusive design, assistive technology and web standards.
Thanks Charlie. Hope you had a good (if small) first meetup! I'd love to come to future meetups - there's lots to learn about accessibility. btw if scheduling future meetups please avoid clashing with the Brisbane Web Design Meetup (usually third Thursday of month at 6pm), as I and a few other members go to that. I know how difficult it is to pick a day/time that suits everyone though! Thanks again for starting up the group.
Thanks Charlie - hopefully the train times work out ok - I thought it might be Brunswick St, but always good to have the confirmation from you. Thanks again, hopefully we get to meet soon.
Thanks Charlie - just wanted to check - is the first meeting at 8am or 8pm on Fri 10th?
hope to catch up with the group soon
