Brisbane Atheists' Sunday Picnic in the Park - NOW AT MIDDAY, not 11:00am

Whilst the observant gather in their churches, mosques, temples, synagogues and naked in forrest glens... The Brisbane Atheists feast and frollick in an unholy orgy of basket foods and paddock sports!

For those of you who can't make the Saturday Night Social at the Marriott Brisbane Hotel the night before, how about a nice shared lunch in Brisbane's Botanic Gardens?

This might be a great occassion for everyone to have some family members come - spouses, kids... everyone's invited!

I like the idea of everyone pitching in a dish to share... someone brings a salad, others bring a dessert, I'll sacrifice a goat... let's discuss online in the leadup to the actual picnic so that we don't all end up with nothing but nine people bringing frickin' egg salad!

Don't forget to bring some frizbees, maybe a cricket bat and a footy... does anyone have an acoustic guitar? Bring that and I'll bring my acoustic bass and we'll jam!

The more suggestions the better... let's make this a real event folks!

Was a great turn out today with lots of new faces and WAY too much food to share! We engaged in some great conversations... I think the highlight was having Peter telling us some stories from his college days when he used to be good mates with Christopher Hitchens!

I highly recommend other members come and join in the fun on the next picnic!

Hey all, Jase and I will be happy to get a couple of BBQ chooks and some tubs of pasta salads... what is everyone else keen on bringing?

If this does get a bit too messy, we might just all bring our own meals with just snacks to share with the group.

    Thoughts?

Why everyone, should we decide what people will bring for food drink etc? I get a load of dessert type things, not too good at cooking salad haha

Let me see about a guitar - it's kind of buried among other stored-away stuff at present and might need strings.

If 9 people bring egg salad, I'll be ecstatic - it's my fave! 11am on a Sunday is WAY too early for me. I'll try to get there by 12 noon, but even that's a bit early for me on a Sunday. I'll probably bring the 2 kiddliewinks (girls - 9 and 12) and maybe the BF.
