Love is Worth Fighting For, a Toowoomba community rally and 'big day out' will be held on Saturday October 6th 2012 from 1pm to 4pm at 'Frog's Hollow', Queens Park (corner of Margaret & Hume Streets).
Support for same sex rights is critically important to the Toowoomba community at this time. Healthy Communities, the only LGBTI health and wellbeing community organisation in Queensland, has recen
tly lost $2.5 million of government funding. Civil unions are threatened under the LNP government, as well as surrogacy for same-sex couples.
On the day we will have speakers from QAHC and Equal Love, and more to be announced. There will be a fundraising sausage sizzle & cupcake stall with all proceeds going to QAHC, kids art activities, face painting, information & merchandise stalls from Equal Love, QAHC and PFLAG and other community organisations, and you will get the chance to add your heart flower to our Garden of Hearts public art installation and share your stories of what love and family means to you with our video stories booth (in conjunction with Equal Love's own video stories project!).
Everyone is welcome - this is a family friendly event and no matter what your sexuality, if you support marriage equality and equal rights for ALL Australian citizens then come along and show your support!
There will also be an 'afterevent' at Fitzy's/Fibber's in Margaret Street at 4:30pm for food and/or, drinks/coffee is welcome to join some atheists/critical thinkers/humanists/skeptics for some good conversation and discussion of whatever topics arise.
