Why or how did you become an Atheist?

After almost 15 years in the evangelical Christian movement, I have finally given in to the logic and doubt I have experienced throughout the last decade. I'm still dealing with some of the guilt and confusion and compulsions of my previous life but I have also gained a great sense of freedom. I have also gained the joy that comes from changing my perspective from one of being focused on a religion and an eternity of worship to a view that allows me to cherish life NOW. I also now feel that this life is my only one and this world needs us to act now to make life better for everyone, instead of sitting back and resigning to a sense of fate. I'm interested in meeting like-minded people and learning more about de-christianising myself.

What do you want from Brisbane Atheist Meetup meeting?

To meet like-minded people, who will help me learn to think freely again.

How did you find out about our group?
