October 2007 meeting: Dead as a dodo ? How serious is the current biodiversity crisis?

Dr Judit Szabo is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Ecology Centre at the University of Queensland. She has completed a Master?s degree in Theoretical Ecology and a Doctoral degree in Environmental Toxicology. In 2001, she moved to Australia to conduct fieldwork for her doctoral studies about exposure and effects of locust-control pesticides on birds in Eastern Australia. She has been working in conservation biology for 15 years and has a special interest in birds. In this presentation she is giving an overview about the current biodiversity crisis and some research/management priorities.

Date & time: Wednesday 10 October 2007

5.30pm- biscuits, coffee/tea

6.00pm- presentation commences

Venue: Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology, 134 Whitmore St (Swann Rd end), Taringa. Go to reception (off upper car park) & signs will direct from there.

Parking is available on site (upper car park- anywhere there is a space or lower car parks in the non reserved spaces).There's also plenty of close on street parking (with no meters/time limit) at that time of day.

Who should attend: Any intelligent person interested in the common good.
