Byron Bay Bluesfest

What a line-up...Ben Harper, Santana, Robert Plant, Status Quo, Cat Empire, Paul Simon, Jason Mraz, Rufus Wainwright, Chris Isaak, Joan Armatrading, Steve Miller Band, Counting Crows, and on and on...I'm salivating...

And the incomparable Byron Bay...tickets and accommodation are going fast, let's get busy...

Bluesfest was incredible. Sensory overload but worth it - same with the occasional rain. Thanks to those of you who tried to meet me in the crowds but didn't quite manage it with so many people and so much going on. Bonus for me was running into (almost literally) old friends I lost contact with 20 years ago and who now live in NSW so we had a meetup of our own! Favourite acts? So many but Tedeschi Trucks Band (AMAZING!), Roger Hodgson (a real pro), Robert Plant, Tjupurru (kick yourself if you missed him), Steve Miller, Santana, Joan Armatrading, Tony Joe White, Ruthie Foster but there were no dud acts! Sorry, Michele-Rose, I didn't see Luke H.

Thanks. That explains it. There was so much else going on I didn't give the Busking Tent more than a passing glance and listen as I hurried on to the main stages but I did hear some good stuff coming from it. So much talent around!

He doesn't belong there. I need to get him discovered or sponsored. His guitars are falling apart. There's several clips on Youtube. I deem him the most important Artist I've reviewed. Self taught, doesn't read music, muti instrumental. The typical Gifted picture. Will be good to catch up with you guys.

Have you checked the Blues Fest site? They usually have forum for tickets when they sell out, and people don't mark the price up!

Hi, I bought my ticket at last year's festival :-) I'm staying at Byron Bay Tourist Village. It's always pretty hard meeting up with people at a festival!! How do you guys catch up with people?

    March 22, 2013

  • Mick

Hi, I will be there Fri/Sat/Sun. My first Bluesfest. I left it all too late so the only accomm I could find was a motel at Murwillumbah. It would be good if we could recognise other meetup members in the crowds somehow. Any ideas?

    March 22, 2013

Hi Michelle I still have a ticket for Friday but still need to find out if its transferable and then work out a price for you ! Dan

I can hardly wait to sing along (hope he does it) to I'm Bored, I'm the Chairman of the Board and to find out if Robert can still scream in the range he used to. My screaming may very well disguise the flaws in his!

Does any one know of any accommodation still available?

    January 10, 2013

we really enjoy staying at Byron Bay Tourist Village on the Ewingdale Rd the main road into Byron Bay. From there you can spend mornings at the beach and catch the bus to the festival later. Very secure, quiet and friendly staff. $315 for 2 medium tents Thurs to Tuesday (I think) 399 Ewingsdale Road Byron Bay NSW 2481

    Hi,
I have just checked with Terrace Reserve Holiday park, Brunswick Heads, as to availability. They have one large campsite available during Easter period, you need to book for a week and the cost is $329 for 2 people. Their ph no is[masked] if anyone is interested in checking out this option. It is a very nice camp ground in a good location.

    January 4, 2013

  • Peter S

My preference is to camp for the Bluesfest. Kath says she has booked for Brunswick Heads. I might check whether there are still sites available there. It may be more fun to have a few people around the same location. I have extra camping equipment so people could camp even if they don't have their own gear.

This sounds like a great meetup. Does someone want to volunteer to organise this event. Otherwise, people can look after themselves with tickets and accmmodation and you can agree to meet at the Blues Festival. I will be organising a meetup in May for the Blues on Broadbeach. This festival is free.

I am hoping to go. Have heard the accommodation is cheaper at Brunswick Heads which is just bit further north of Byron

Not sure where we would get accommodation at this late stage. Are you orgnaising that? Have always wanted to go the Byron Bay Jazz Blues Festival... :-)

I have a house & pet sitting gig for these dates.

    December 23, 2012

Actually, it's Tyagarah Tea Tree farm, not tea farm.

    December 23, 2012

  • Kath C.

Hi, I believe the Blues festival is on at Tyagarah Tea Farm, which is 9 km north of Byron, not at the Belongil Fields, where it used to be held.

    December 23, 2012

  • Kath C.

HI Mariana and Richard! I will be going to the festival
from the Friday to Sunday inclusive and have a tent site booked at Brunswick Heads 5 mins from venue, from the Friday to the following Friday, so if you need somewhere to sleep you are welcome to stay there. Kath

  • Mariana and R.

Hi Nicole, will this be for the 5 days? or are you thinking on one day in particular?

    December 23, 2012

  • Ariel

    December 23, 2012
