Delaware Valley Norton Riders Show

Since we're coming from different directions, let's post in a different thread where to meet and what time. This is always a GREAT show. If you come early you get to see the riders come in in their gear and hear the roar of the engine. If arriving late you get to see & hear them as they leave.

If you're new to our group and haven't met anyone yet, we suggest you meetup with someone from the group before the meetup.  Once we get into a crowd of leather jackets, it's hard to distinguish us from the rest.

Everyone. Thanks for coming out for breakfast and your generous donations which help offset the cost. The breakfast brings people together from varying motorcycle groups and is a love fest. And because everyone doesn't know each other no one stands out as a newcomer. Hope you all enjoyed the good company. I got to meet some of you who I didn't know which was great.

You got to meet me! Thanks Lori, absolutely fantastic of you to open up your home to us all and even serve us breakfast! Hope to see you at another event again soon! Ciao! Dusty

I spoke with a couple of your neighbors; what nice people to put up with us. One said her kids woke her up at 6AM saying "where's the bikes?"

  • Steve Buerkle

Thanks to Lori for hosting the breakfast! This was my first time going to a group event and I had a fantastic time. The weather obviously was perfect and I'm really glad we all got to the Norton event early given the number of bikes that eventually showed up. I now have a new list of older bikes I want to add to my quiver.

I'm looking at this crappy Monday Morning weather and really thankful for the great weekend we had. ...Lori's breakfast was awesome, and the show was huge....sorry I had to cut out early but we were blessed with good weather and great people, so its all good!

Got to the 'Show Site' with one of the 'Norton Owners'. Had to park on the edge, with other 'Non-Norton' bikes . . . maybe about a dozen. Was waiting for some more Norton's to fill in the 'center isle' to take a couple of photos . . . next thing I know, I CAN'T do it - so many people can't SEE the BIKES !!

Some nice looking bikes there, based on the pics. Wish I could have gone, but my daughters college visit to Albright had to take precedence. Next year !

Kudos to Lori for serving so many and pulling the neighbors together to support her efforts. It was comfortable to just step up and talk to the person next to you and yet you hadn't been introduced. Thanks!

  • Pete

Many thanks to Lori for opening her beautiful home to all of us, and for the delicious and generous breakfast. And it was fun to preview some great bikes at breakfast; it was like a show before the show.

"Once we get into a crowd of leather jackets, it's hard to distinguish us from the rest" Speak for yourself....

I dont think I can squeeze into my Leathes AND eat breakfast this year. Hunch over the bars in a leather girdle with a belly full of bacon? I dunno....

So, look for me in my Office-Casual Khackies with the Hidden Elastic Waistband!!! I'm still looking for a pair of "Florida" sneakers to complete the ensemble, you know, the ones with the velcro laces all those retirees wear? But at least my bike is running this year.

    Cant wait!

    • Jerry K

Thanks Pete... Tough day.. I needed that.. Frankly feeling a bit outcast myself riding in my tattered and stained Carhart jacket and Wranglers.. :-) .. jer

I was at a meeting with the Norton group that sponsors the event yesterday. It was mentioned by the club president that there is no scheduled rain date. Unless it is pouring rain, he said the event would go on as planned. Please keep your fingers crossed... Steve

I think we should organize a meetup at It Nutts (just across the river) for breakfast/coffee at maybe 8.30 - 9.30? Particularly for newer members who might not otherwise find fellow Brit Bike members at the show.

WHOO HOOO!!! Spent this fine weekend "in the shed" and the Red gal is UP AND RUNNING...minor "wet edge" on one fuel bowl will need addressing sometime this season, but I will be riding to Lori's and the Norton Rally!!

    • Guzzi Pete

not much, just put-er-back-together...steering head bearings and general clean-up.. You ever get the "glamor shot" of the inline six engine I took at last years Modern Classic show? Thought I sent it to you but not sure.

      April 16, 2013

    • Jerry K

Yep.. Was posted.. Thanks.. Looking forward to seeing you again... Getting warm.. Ya gotta ride that thing..:-)

David, best to keep the homefront happy. There will be other years.

    April 16, 2013

  • David

    Bad timing for a vacation.

    April 15, 2013

  • David

Ouch. I was so looking forward to this event. Looks like I will be in North Carolina though. I completely forgot about vacation plans I made 2 months ago. My choices are this: an unhappy spouse or a great day on 2 wheels. She's always let me ride when I want, so this time, she gets the consideration. I will definitely make the next event.

    April 15, 2013

  • lori weiniger

Andrea. About posting breakfast as a separate event. Breakfast is INVITATION ONLY and is held once a year the morning of the Norton Meet. It is not a destination on it's own. Everyone one at the breakfast will be heading to the Meet around 10:00. 70 people came last year and I'm inviting anyone who is a member of this Meetup. There will be a trophy presented to the "Oldest Rider" and commemorative dog tags to anyone who wants them. Breakfast is Rain or Shine because I start preparing food a few weeks ahead of time.
    More details coming.

    April 3, 2013

    • Douglas shepherd

Thank you for the invitation for us all Lori!

      April 3, 2013

    • Laura Tracy

Lori - Thanks for the invite. I think Andrea's comment is that if people RSVP to this posting we're not sure if it's for the Norton Gathering or your breakfast. If you don't need a count from us then no need to post it as a separate event. See you at your place!

      April 15, 2013

  • Adam Baker

    Lori,
See you on the 28th, again thanks for the invite.
Always enjoyed myself and great group.

I can lead a group down from the far North, AKA Coopersburg.

    February 19, 2013

    • Bruce Kenson

Thanks for thinking of me but I will go out by myself as I know you cannot pinpoint an exact time. I live closer to the river so going to turkey hill is a more boring ride. I luckily haver great riding right on my road and almost never have to ride main roads like 309 .

      April 3, 2013

    • Douglas shepherd

Whatever works... no need to worry about us riding 309, we take every back road there is to get where we are going including dirt roads if we have all the right kinds of bikes along for that! We are lucky, we have good riding right out of the driveway!

Can 't make the new date. I'll look forward to your pictures.

    April 3, 2013

Andrea. I have no idea how to post the breakfast as a separate event.

    April 2, 2013

    • Joe Rocket

If you go to the calendar page, there should be a target for suggesting a new meetup. You may need a group organizer to finalize it.

      April 2, 2013

    • Andrea Young

Look for 'Schedule a new meetup' link near the top and center of the brit bikes site home page. Any member can post an event.

      April 2, 2013

  • Douglas shepherd

I can lead a group out from Quakertown for those up my way.
    Who's in?

    April 2, 2013

  • lori weiniger

Andrea. Breakfast is at my home the morning of the Norton Meet. I'm about 5 miles away. I posted details earlier, I'll do that again when we get closer. You'll have a much better time then breakfast at It's Nutts.

    April 1, 2013

    • Andrea Young

Thanks Lori, that's very generous of you and I'm looking forward to being there. I do hope you post the breakfast as a separate event so that newer members are more likely to see it. Too many times people have turned up at a big event and not found us even though many of us were there. Sharing a meal is a great way to make new acquaintances.

      April 1, 2013

  • David

Looking forward to this. Met Lori at Hannums and got a kind invite to breakfast as well.

Not sure I can make the new date, I have plans to visit a college with my daughter on that Sunday. Rats !
