This is a America's only High Wheel Race! I went last year to watch the riders on their high wheel bikes, and thought it would be fun to have a Brompton Club ride prior to the race. :) Since we had the Brompton small-wheel race in July, we'll swing the other way and see the High Wheel racers!
We'll take a leisurely spin along Frederick's 10-mile Bicycle History Loop, taking in the sights along the way, including the Hessian Barracks, the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, the Francis Scott Key Monument, to name a few.
Then we'll make our way to the start of the race, where the racers line up for photos and you can check out their cool high-wheel bikes. They will race for an hour around a couple of blocks - - and the winner is the one who does the most laps in that time.
So, come out for a fun afternoon of riding through history and cheering on the racers! :)
