he Baltimore Kinetic Sculpture Race is an annual free event in Baltimore's Inner Harbor area. I've gone the past few years, and had a great time. If you haven't been or haven't heard of this fun event, here's the website: http://www.kineticbaltimore.com/ I thought it'd be fun to meet up and check out the various race participant's movable bike sculpture and then ride along the route event to watch as the race unfolds. Bring your camera and/or smartphone to take pictures. We'll stop and watch the water event at Caton Waterfront Park, where there is also restrooms and food vendors. The water event lasts a couple hours (11:15-1:15), as the race participants have to enter the water, paddle around a short pier and then climb back up the steep boat ramp. It's fun to see how the vehicles either make or break during this event. Brompton Club members can stay as long or short as you want for this ride event. The whole route is about 15 miles. The ride to Caton Waterfront Park is probably half of that. The event continues on to a obstacle course at Patterson Park. Although it's a little interesting to watch the participants grind their way over sand and mud, it's quite slow, so I suggest we head back to the Visionary Art Museum after watching the waterfront event. Take a look at the website and let me know if you'd like to join me. There are a number of parking garages located around the Inner Harbor, where you can park for the day (for $15-$20). Rain will cancel our attending this event, and I will reschedule another ride later in the month. Thanks!
