Brompton Bicycle Club Message Board › When Crossing the Pond why not hire?
|A former member||
At the end of March the second automated Brompton Dock opens at Manchester Piccadilly Station. This is just a short train ride from Manchester Airport (with direct flights from US) so along with Guildford (SW of London not quite a direct train from Heathrow, but there is one from Gatwick) the number of locations where you can hire a Brompton 24/7 will be growing. More should appear soon afterwards at rail stations, and other sites, a number of the initial ones relatively convenient for international arrivals (a few stops down the line from the airport). I used to do specialist parts as Custom Folder and an e-mail to my custfold aol address gets me, if you want more detail
This can save the risk of entrusting your precious Brompton to the perils of baggage handling, and the bikes can be hired for any period - with the price coming down the longer you keep the bike out on hire. Hirers register using their mobile phone or on-line and a credit or debit card, and hires are initiated using your phone to obtain a release code for the location and registered details.
If you can fathom the crazy wanderings off-topic do track the Brompton-Talk yahoo group list but translations of Yorkshire dialect and explaining the history of parochial feuds are not always immediately delivered. The group includes some ex-pats out on missions to civilise the New World, so you may even spot them around.
Remember that BWC 2012 is ramping up too and you'll have the US heats soon.
