UPDATE MONDAY AUGUST 26th
Swftkat here! Since Johnathan said he wasn't sure if he'd make it, I can help you guys out with the info.
SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY!
Well more like Friday Saturday Sunday. Actually for this meet, just Saturday.
Still. The Baltimore Grand Prix is fast approaching, do you have your tickets yet?
The Baltimore Grand Prix is now an annual race taking over the entirety of the Baltimore Inner Harbor and its two stadiums with high octane action.
For this meetup event it will be easier as a one day thing, Saturday the 31st but if you wish, you can go the whole weekend (the group will only officially meet Saturday but if you wish to get together Friday or Sunday as well, you're more than welcome to it). This seems to be the day most people will be able to get there and I don't think we're all going the whole weekend.
For a summary of what's around for the weekend - Friday features qualifying matches. Saturday features Le Mans and other various races. Sunday features a number of minor league racing teams ending with the cream of the crop, 90 laps of the Indy Cart racers themselves. For every day, you can walk around the track and see the pros and their vehicles.
If you're looking to buy tickets you can purchase them here:
Keep in mind what you're getting!
If you want to simply go with the entry fee which lets you roam the grounds, it's $40.
If you wish to use the grandstand, you'll have to pay for a grandstand ticket ($55 on Saturday for the lowest tier, $85 for mid and $100 for upper). This allows you to watch from the bleachers. This ticket does let you roam the grounds too.
The Paddock pass lets you get really close to all the cars and stuff. They'll have a few things on display, but to get really close, you get that, but the ticket is entirely optional. (You need to pay that on top of your entry fee so it'll be a bit pricier).
There's also a weekend pass but that's up to you if you want to go the whole weekend.
I propose meeting around Noon on Saturday and grabbing a bite to eat and wander the pits a bit before settling in to watch a race. We can still meet at the McKeldin Fountain which is a giant water monument by the Inner Harbor with cascading waterfalls going along side it. (It looks like that V)
If anyone wishes to go wander on their own, or we decide to split off, we can, but I'd like to get at least one group pic in if we can.
So this is the third year of the Grand Prix in Baltimore and I haven't missed a year yet. And now that I met all you awesome ponies, I'd like to share such a fun time with you all. It is amazing to go to the race and actually watch it at! Definitely a fun time for any motorhead!! Best grandstand is corner 1, all the action happens there. I also scouted out another great place which is upstairs at Tir-a-nog. A/C, food and drinks all while you watch! http://raceonbaltimore.com/
