Edgar Allan Pony's "Poe"etic Ponytry special

Hark, you Poe-nies!

Join us for an

afternoon of dramatic readings at the historic Poe Cottage in Bronx, NYC.

Take a tour of Edgar Allan Poe's last home, preserved for evermore by the historic landmark trust of NY.

Write! Read! Inspire! Play!

Have a fanfic, short story or poem you want to share? Now's your chance to shine like a Gold-Bug.

Kar's TELL-TALE-HEART game will make a poet out of anypony. A game of skill and of wits and words; The choices you make will make your spine tingle and your neighbors cringe...

Feeling Raven-ous?

Picnic under the open October skies while we partake in an original FiM-poetry contest and read-off. We can also go out someplace for dinner after leaving the park.

What else?

Admission to the Poe Cottage is $5 if you wish to tour it.

($3 for students)

Come prepared for history, storytelling, snacks and swag!

We have some surprises to give out as well. ; })

Everything was pleasant and curiously fun, amazing how much work went into the preparation for the dark and Poe-rific theme. Also, as always, ponies add a great dash of flavor to things. :)

Leaving apt. See everyone there! Look for me somewhere on the grass in front of the cottage at 2:00-2:30. I'll be wearing a black Pinkie Pie shirt and a yellow knit hat and carrying a bright blue bag from sketchers. :) I have enough goodies for 12 people, juice and some sweet snacks. Will definitely want to tour that cottage before it closes. Can't wait!

Any idea what street parking in the area would be like? Much easier to drive this far north in the Bronx rather than public transit all the way south to GCT and back north again. :P

    • Kar

Google satellite maps shows cars parked along Grand Concourse - easy 'nuff, that's a main artery.

  • Pav F.

Fanfics? Hmm. I hadn't been /planning/ on going to this, but I just wrote a 750-word that I could bring. Hmm. I'll have to double-check my calendar now!

I need more of an excuse to read more fanfiction, so I guess this is it... it's always more efficient to "hear" it. :)

  • Kar

So who's excited for this weekend? I think we should gather at the location first and have our picnic, our poetry game and out readings/recitals first, then tour the cottage which stays open until 5.

      I'm positioned at the border of excitement, mainly because I have to travel in the Bronx and some of the worst MTA stations are in the Bronx... I do so hate the MTA.... Surely they'll dampen my mood for... whatever it is that one does at a poetry party... thingy... >>;

      October 17, 2012

  • Kar

Ok if I bring some home-baked treats? I'm thinking either Tell Tale Heart tarts or Lenore Lemon Squares~

So what exactly is going on here? I love literature and poetry, so I'd love to go.

    September 25, 2012

    • Kar

Ooh I just updated the info a little Hay! ^ points upward. Check it out! We are still hashing out a couple of details, like the start-end time. We know we want sometime after noon but finish before dark.

      September 25, 2012

    • Haybuck

Hm. Well, I don't know what's going on that weekend still, but if I can be there, I totally will.
