World of Warcraft TCG Battlegrounds

World of Warcraft Battlegrounds at Brookhurst Hobbies is a great way to play WoW TCG in a relaxed environment. We have friendly players of all skill levels - we love to help new players get started, whether you're just learning the rules or trying to pick the right cards for your first deck.

We use swiss pairing, so everyone gets to play each round - in the event of an odd number of players, one person per round will receive a bye (preference for first-round byes is given to those that RSVP). Matches are 50-minutes, best-of-three games. Each player receives the current month's participation card at the first Battlegrounds event he/she attends for the month (while supplies last). The top two players each week, plus another player picked at random, as well as the player voted by his/her peers to have the best sportsmanship, win the current month's Battlegrounds prize card. All players, in order of ranking, get to pick from a pool of prize cards at the end of the night. Finally, the player that accumulates the most achievement points each month is awarded a Battlegrounds Master playmat.

The current format is Core. Players build their decks using standard deck construction rules. Valid sets consist of:

  • Worldbreaker
  • War of the Elements
  • Twilight of the Dragons
  • Throne of Tides
  • Crown of the Heavens
  • Tomb of the Forgotten (release date: June 12, 2012)
  • special-release cards and sets since the beginning of Worldbreaker block

Registration for the current format is $5.99 plus tax - included in the price of registration, each player receives one complimentary booster pack from the current format.

Attended SoCal Smackdown 2011? Save $1.00 off the price of registration for all Battlegrounds events until pre-registration opens for next year's con!

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
