Info below is from Beverly, the assistant org. of our Meetup. I'll be up there this weekend too and hope you can join Beverly and I. It's going to be enlightening for sure.
THIS ONE IS THE BIGGIE ALTHOUGH IT IS NOT IN NYC!
If you have any interest in this-and you should- but need a ride and are willing to share gas and tolls, please contact me directly. I will be driving up and can take 1-3 riders depending on the amount of gear you bring.
I am sure that you are all familiar with the role that Babatunde Olatunji had in influencing world drumming, jazz, rock and specifically in bringing African Drumming and culture to the US. Here is a magnificent opportunity to hook up with a wide variety of drumming buddies in a wonderful setting in the Berkshires of Massachusetts. Rowe Center is a magical place and spring is a lovely time to experience it. (I know-I just came back). When you are not drumming there are hiking trails, a labyrinth, a meditation hut, a sauna, wonderful food with vegan, gluten free, lactose free options (and animal protein for those who need it) and LOTS OF DRUMMING. The below is a not-to-be-missed opportunity if you can possibly make it. Rowe has several rooming plans, including tenting, and the opportunity to defray part of the registration with a work barter that allows you not to miss parts of the workshops.
