Hello Groovy Groovelanders!!!
Beverly (my assistant org)and I will be attending an amazing drumming weekend THIS WEEKEND in MA at The Rowe Center!!! See the details below. It's SOOOOOOOO worth it. If you offer to do some kitchen help, you can get the entire weekend for about $250! Beverly might be able to give you a ride as well. Contact me if you're in need of a ride and I'll pass it on to her.
If you choose to stay around this weekend, I'll be scheduling an UN-FACILITATED circle this Sunday in Pros. Pk. Don't forget, the BIG drum circle in Drummer's Grove on the east side of the park, near Lincoln Rd. entrance, starts around 2pm and goes until...9pm, I believe. You can make your way over there after our circle if you want some more. There's always dancing going on there too.
Whatever you choose to do, have joyful, silly, risky, and peaceful weekend!!!
THIS ONE IS THE BIGGIE ALTHOUGH IT IS NOT IN NYC!
If you have any interest in this-and you should- but need a ride and are willing to share gas and tolls, please contact me directly. I will be driving up and can take 1-3 riders depending on the amount of gear you bring.
I am sure that you are all familiar with the role that Babatunde Olatunji had in influencing world drumming, jazz, rock and specifically in bringing African Drumming and culture to the US. Here is a magnificent opportunity to hook up with a wide variety of drumming buddies in a wonderful setting in the Berkshires of Massachusetts. Rowe Center is a magical place and spring is a lovely time to experience it. (I know-I just came back). When you are not drumming there are hiking trails, a labyrinth, a meditation hut, a sauna, wonderful food with vegan, gluten free, lactose free options (and animal protein for those who need it) and LOTS OF DRUMMING. The below is a not-to-be-missed opportunity if you can possibly make it. Rowe has several rooming plans, including tenting, and the opportunity to defray part of the registration with a work barter that allows you not to miss parts of the workshops.
