So I want to use the first meeting as a drill. It will help me see how many people I can have meet at one time, if the place I selected to meet would be suitable and if the format in my mind would work. I am going to limit this to just 7 girls, so that including me, it would only be 8, which I think would help to give everyone a chance to get their story in. And if I see that more can be added, I will bump the next one up to 10 including me. I also may be doing these twice a month, so it gives more girls an opportunity to join and I ask that if you participated in one during a month, please do not RSVP for the other one. And if you do RSVP, please do so if you know you will be there for sure, if something comes up, please take yourself out as soon as possible, this way somone else gets a chance to attend.
Ok, so for this one, I want you to write no more than five pages(double spaced) about the following: an event that you had to go to, but did not want to. For example, your boyfriend's mother's birthday party, jury duty, a class, etc..
Bring just one copy and please be prepared to read it aloud, so that others can give you critiques and compliments. I want it to become a group discussion focusing on what the writer thinks they have problems with or needs help with.
If you want a more in depth analysis of your story, then bring in a few copies and whoever would like to participate in the take home assignment can. Provide your email with your story therefore we can email our responses to you.
I am hoping that this format works, or at least helps me to learn what kind of format would work. Looking forward to reading your stories!
The place I chose is a bar that doesn't get too crowded around this time (opens at 5pm). It has a nice big table in the back in which we can gather around. And they serve food! (Again, if it doesn't work out, I will research a different spot.)
