Plattekill Bike Park

A few of us are interested in heading up to Plattekill Bike Park this season, so I wanted to post here to gauge interest and give everyone plenty of heads up.

Its about a 3.5 hour drive so its a bit of a journey, not sure if it'd be better to make it a day trip or camp one night. They have camping onsite or there are campgrounds with showers nearby. Its a very scenic area in the Catskills, and the trails are a bit more rugged and natural than Mountain Creek or Burke. This is a lift-served downhill park so a downhill-capable bike would be recommended, and they have rentals available. A few of us have cars and many of us don't, so if you need a ride or can offer transportation, please post.

Who else needs a ride? I think my truck is full with Charles, Ted and Kolbi, Steve and Martin do you need a spot? I heard George is going so he may have room. Also is everyone good on camping gear or will anyone need to borrow anything?

Jesse, I asked Platty last week, via facebook, which lift they'd be running Saturday and haven't heard a response. If you've spoken to anyone there could you get a hold of them again and ask? If so, tru and persuade them to spin the double! Please.

More importantly, you trying to ride Saturday?

I'd be down for.... Sprain, Graham, Nimham, Brewster, Huntington, and Trumbull. I've never been to 909 or ridden most of the trails up on Mt. Beacon and the Breakneck Ridge. I went to Mianus River Park in Stamford yesterday evening and it would be fun to spend some more time out there. Or I'd even be down for a ride out in Mass. at either Jiminy Peak or the Vietnam Trails out in Milford, Mass., both of those places are a solid 2 hours from me though, much less you guys....Sorry I'm so set on one place haha! Lets talk this through and maybe make a new meetup?

I'd love to ride with you guys this weekend, but I'm not going to be around.. First day back on the bike will be the 15th at MC.. My body needs a break anyway.. in the last week and a half I've done Mountain Creek, a few days at snowshoe, seven springs and 4 days at Mount Snow... I'm going to try and put togetehr a group trip to either killington (1st weekend in october) or mount snow (columbus day weekend) both have beer festivals going on.. anyone up for either week?

      Sounds good!

The beginner trails are tough and fun.. Forget a hard tail here.. A good full suspension bike is needed with good tires.. the "beginner DH" purple trails are much more difficult and technical... Blue trails get really knarly, and unless your an expert forget the red trails..

There are some pretty good XC trails that a full suspension bike would do well on..

I've been there twice this season already.. You should go on one of the half price days for bike club members.. The next one is 9/14 and 9/15..

Joe are you coming on this trip? Could you provide transport if so?

      August 16, 2013

      August 16, 2013

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
